Matthew 18:5-9

March 19, 2017 Speaker: Eric Baker Series: King and Kingdom

Passage: Matthew 18:5–9

MISSIONAL COMMUNITY QUESTIONS

1.Pray and re-read Matthew 18:1-9(If possible listen to the sermon again)

2. In looking over your notes from Sunday, what was the most important truth from God's Word? Was there anything that particularly caught your attention, challenged or confused you?

3. As we discussed verse 1-6 we learned that we must become fully dependent upon Christ. What is the difference between being demanding of Jesus and dependant on Jesus?  So as we become active in our faith how can we remain dependent on Jesus for the results and not suffer from huge swings of arrogance when things go well and despair when they seemingly do not?

4.  Why is it crucial for us not to lead other beleivers to sin?  Why should believers be willing to give up freedoms for the good of the body?  How is this reflected in the gospel?

5. What is the difference between a childlike faith and an immature faith?

6. Kill sin or it be killing you.—John Owen
Even if you cannot or will not discuss it with the whole group we should all be taking inventory of our lives and asking God to convict us of our sin. Which sins do you struggle with and how are you ‘plucking your eyes’ or ‘cutting off your hands’?
