Salvation In Christ

February 25, 2018 Speaker: Eric Baker Series: In Christ Alone: The Life and Church Christ Builds

Passage: Ephesians 1:11–14

MISSIONAL COMMUNITY QUESTIONS

1. Pray and re-read Ephesians 1:11-14 (If possible listen to the sermon again).

2. In looking over your notes from this weeks sermon what was the most important truth from God's Word? Was there anything that particularly caught your attention, challenged or confused you? Any questions?

3. There are many scriptures that we can point to that reiterate the glorious assurance of salvation we have in Jesus and that we looked at this Sunday in Ephesians 1.
We want to encourage you to read, study, and meditate on some of these verses this week before we meet in our MCs this week just to prepare our hearts for our discussions. We pray that these would serve to stir your affections for the Jesus who holds us fast.

  • Philippians 1:6
  • John 10:27-30
  • John 6:38-39
  • 1 Peter 1:3-5
  • 1 Peter 2:9-10
  • Jude 24-25
  • 2 Corinthians 1:21-22
  • Hebrews 12:1-2

4.  Read 2 Peter 1:10 and Philippians 2:12-13. We know that it is the Holy Spirit who serves as the seal and guarantee of our inheritance. How do we reconcile verses like these with what we read in Ephesians 1:11-14?

5. Do you ever doubt this assurance? If so, when and why? What lies were you believing that caused you to doubt? What truths were you ignoring? How were you able to re-convince yourself to believe the truth of Scripture?

6. How does having this assurance, this guarantee, cause you to live differently on Thursday afternoon or any other day when life seems to be going awry? What day-to-day application exists living with this assurance?

7. “Salvation is more about the wonder of God than about wondering why.”
Read Romans 11:33-36. How does this text inform us on how we should worship God in the ‘mystery’.
