Exodus 5: Disappointment with God

February 28, 2021 Speaker: Eric Baker Series: Exodus

Passage: Exodus 5:1–23

  1. Re-read Exodus. If possible, listen to the sermon(s) again.

  1. Looking back over your notes from this weeks sermon (or the past few weeks in 2 Timothy) what was the most important truth from God's Word? Was there anything that particularly caught your attention, challenged you, or confused you? Any questions?

  1. On Sunday, the question was asked to identify the root of your disappointment with God. The two options being disobedience and obedience. Try to think of an example (or more) of both in your own life. Share with the group. Which was more difficult to handle or understand? What was your eventual response?

  1. Can you think of a time in your life when you initially responded to disappointment with God in anger or abandonment but then eventually turned to awe? If so, try to explain that transition. How was your anger/abandonment turned to awe/worship?

  1. What “whys” do you have in your life even right now? Are you afraid to be honest about them? Are you afraid to ask God? Are you okay with never receiving the full answer as to why something turned out the way that it did?

  1. Do you have a Christian brother or sister in your life that you can be fully honest with and confide in that you are sometimes disappointed with God? If not, we, as your pastors, beg you to find someone who will consistently point you back to Jesus in those times. God knows our hearts and he never asks us to fake it til we make it. We are never meant to go about this life or our walks of faith alone.
