Exodus 20:13 Don't Murder

September 5, 2021 Speaker: Eric Baker Series: Exodus

Passage: Exodus 20:13

1. Reread Exodus 20:1-13. If possible, listen to the sermon(s) again.

2. Looking back over this sermon and this sermon series, how has God convicted your heart, stirred your affections for Jesus, drawn you closer to Him? How has the Word challenged, confused, or made you ask questions?
3. When you hear things like "God is both the giver AND the taker of life" how do you feel about it? What kind of thoughts does it conjure up and what type of questions does that make you ask?
4. Read Matthew 5:21-26. We have all broken this command. We have all harbored hate and anger at times. Is now one of those times? Is there any confession and repentance that needs to take place in your heart in regards to a 'murderous heart'?
5. Now read Ephesians 4:26-27. How do you reconcile what Jesus said in Matthew 5:21-26 with this particular verse? How do they not contradict one another?
6. As we have looked at each of the 10 Commandments we have worked through the same four major points.
Revelation: What does this reveal about God?
Confrontation: What does this say about us and how does that confront us in our sin?
Incarnation: How does this point us to Christ?
Application: How do we now apply these truths to our lives?
We will ask this every week for the rest of the 10 Commandment series but so far, what are some ways in which God has revealed himself to you, confronted your sin, shown you Jesus, and helped you apply truth to your life?
