God's Gift of Marriage and Intimacy

September 12, 2021 Speaker: Eric Baker Series: Exodus

Passage: Exodus 20:14

**Disclaimer**

Obviously, there is sensitivity to some of the discussion that could be brought about with this topic. While we do want our MCs to be a place of transparency and honesty please use wisdom in what you speak about publicly. Each group has different age groups and demographics. Please simply be aware of that.

HOWEVER, if you are struggling in this area of life in any capacity, please do not simply ignore it or wait it out. Do not try to fight sexual sin on your own...you will lose. As one of your pastors, I want to extend the invitation to you to come discuss these things openly with one or all of us and we will be more than happy to walk with you and point you to Jesus as we help fight with you as well.

1. Reread Exodus 20:1-14. If possible, listen to the sermon(s) again.

2. Looking back over this sermon and this sermon series, how has God convicted your heart, stirred your affections for Jesus, drawn you closer to Him? How has the Word challenged, confused, or made you ask questions?

3. How did hearing that God made both marriage and marital sex as gracious gifts for us help you to rethink both topics?

4. Culture flies in the face of this teaching and tells us that God is basically a killjoy because he will not allow us to express our sexual desires in any way we want. How is this not only untrue but the OPPOSITE of the truth?

5. How can we as the church do a better job of warning, protecting, and explaining to the younger generation why God designed this area of our life in this way? Older couples this may be a time you can share with younger couples ways in which you have been able to protect your marriage over the years.

6. Find scriptures that address sexual sin. Share with the group. Why is it so often commanded of us to fight sin except in this particular area of life where we are told over and over again to flee?

7. As we have looked at each of the 10 Commandments we have worked through the same four major points.

Revelations: What does this reveal about God?

Confrontation: What does this say about us and how does that confront us in our sin?

Incarnation: How does this point us to Christ?

Application: How do we now apply these truths to our lives?

We will ask this every week for the rest of the 10 Commandment series but so far how what are some ways in which God has revealed himself to you, confronted your sin, shown you Jesus, and helped you apply truth to your life?
