Exodus 20:16 Don't Speak

September 26, 2021 Speaker: Eric Baker Series: Exodus

Passage: Exodus 20:16

1. Reread Exodus 20:1-16. If possible, listen to the sermon(s) again.

2. Looking back over this sermon and this sermon series, how has God convicted your heart, stirred your affections for Jesus, drawn you closer to Him? How has the Word challenged, confused, or made you ask questions?

3. Looking specifically at Jesus’ ministry, how did he live out this commandment? Not when he said nothing, but when he DID speak to others how did he keep this commandment?

4. God made words to matter. His words and our words. They both matter to God, to other people, and to ourselves. How does this change the way you talk to, about, and with other people?

5. Romans 1:25 said that the people “exchanged the truth about God for a lie”. Think about a time you may have done this, on a small scale or a large one. How did this exchange have ramifications and consequences in your life?

6. As we have looked at each of the 10 Commandments we have worked through the same four major points.

Revelations: What does this reveal about God?

Confrontation: What does this say about us and how does that confront us in our sin?

Incarnation: How does this point us to Christ?

Application: How do we now apply these truths to our lives?

We will ask this every week for the rest of the 10 Commandment series but so far how what are some ways in which God has revealed himself to you, confronted your sin, shown you Jesus, and helped you apply truth to your life?
