The Meaning of Marriage

September 4, 2022 Speaker: Eric Baker Series: Fight The Drift: A Study of 1 Corinthians

Passage: Genesis 1–2, 1 Corinthians 7:1

1. Reread 1 Corinthians 7 and Genesis 1-2. If possible, listen to the sermon(s) again.

2. Looking back over this sermon and this sermon series, how has God convicted your heart, stirred your affections for Jesus, drawn you closer to Him? How has the Word challenged, confused, or made you ask questions?

3.How would you explain to someone the ‘meaning of marriage’? Did that change from hearing the sermon on Sunday? How so?

4. Why is it of utmost importance to understand that God is the one who created, instituted, and designed marriage and not man?

5. In what ways, specifically, should a Christian marriage be counter cultural and look much different than a non-Christian marriage?

6. Read Ephesians 5:21-33. What stands out to you in this passage? What does it mean that marriage is for worship and not just happiness?
