WHAT TO EXPECT

Walking into a new church can be intimidating and at times terrifying depending on your previous church experience. If you are considering attending our worship gatherings, we pray that you would take the vulnerable step and come check it out! We can’t fully describe what you will experience, but at least we can try to give you an idea of what to expect.

Mission Church gathers to worship Jesus on Sundays at 9:30 am (1200 Old Barren River Road).

On a Sunday morning you might see some people in a suit and tie, others in a t-shirt and shorts, and a lot of in between. We believe that God doesn’t expect us to clean ourselves up before we come to Him and that Mission is His church; so we say, come as you are. Our worship gatherings usually last around 90 minutes and include worship through music, the preaching of God’s Word, prayer, giving and communion.

At Mission we do not pass the offering plate. We want people to give joyfully, consistently , and generously as the Holy Spirit encourages them. As a visitor please do not feel any pressure to give, we believe that those of us who have made Mission our church home are responsible for its financial needs.  We also periodically celebrate through believer’s baptism.

We preach about Jesus, only He can fix our broken lives, marriages, city, and broken relationship with God. We want to make disciples, devoted to following Jesus, and we believe that one of the ways God has promised to use us in that way is by teaching and preaching the Word.

Why preach about Jesus all the time? Because without Jesus, nothing matters. This is why we teach from the Bible, because the Bible is all about Jesus. Often we’ll go through whole books of the Bible, verse by verse, to show you what the whole Bible teaches and how it relates to Jesus. If you have a Bible we encourage you to bring it, if not, then we provide some for your use. If you do not own a Bible then please take the Bible as a gift from us to you.

Our prayer for every gathering is that you would feel welcomed and loved and that you wouldn’t leave the building thinking about anything other than Jesus. We want you to leave our gathering amazed at God’s radical love expressed through the finished work of Jesus Christ.
