MISSIONAL COMMUNITY QUESTIONS

Reflecting on Sunday's sermon, was there anything that particularly encouraged, challenged, or confused you?  What was the major take-away for you?

1. Are you a liar?
YES=sinner in need of grace NO=YES

2. The Jews and Pharisees had twisted God's word to create a loophole. They were stating that if you did not call God into the oath then you could break it. It was the Hebrew version of 'my fingers were crossed'. However, in what ways have we also created similar loopholes in 2016??

3. What major truths, that have been widely accepted previously, are under fire now in 2016? Why is that and how do we speak truth in love into them?

4. Read 2 Chronicles 6:14. What does it say about God/the gospel if we are untruthful, don't follow up, or show no commitment? Why is this such a big deal as followers of Christ?

5. What is so dangerous about using the way we 'feel' as harbingers of truth instead of using something unchanging?

6. What lies are you believing today? What doubts has Satan tried to fester and grow in your heart about the truth of God's Word? How can we redeem these?

7. Kevin DeYoung says that "one of the hallmarks of sliding into liberalism is no longer being precise with our words."
What does he mean by this? Do you agree or disagree? How does this apply to our discussion on truth/deception?
