Mark 7:31-37

November 5, 2023 Speaker: Eric Baker Series: Who Is This? A Portrait of Jesus Through the Gospel of Mark

Passage: Mark 7:31–37

Missional Community Questions:

1. Reread Mark 7:24-37. If possible, listen to the sermon(s) again.

2. Looking back over this sermon and this sermon series, how has God convicted your heart, stirred your affections for Jesus, drawn you closer to Him? How has the Word challenged, confused, or made you ask questions?

3. WEEKLY QUESTION: Who Is This? In what ways were your views of Jesus challenged, changed, or reinforced by this weeks sermon and text? In what ways have your thoughts about Jesus changed as you have matured in your faith?

4. Jesus did many miracles in his ministry. Manny more that were not written down, apparently. Why is it difficult to believe that the forgiveness of sins is actually more miraculous than even healing a deaf man? Why is it essential that we believe that it is?

5. Both of these past two sermons show Jesus doing things out of the ordinary…speaking to a woman no one else would have spoken to and privately but very personally healing a deaf man…can you think of a time in your life that you have felt the most “known” by God? A time when he truly cared specifically for you? What was that experience like?

6. On the flip side, have you experienced a time in your life when you felt like God was not caring for you the way you thought that he should? Looking back now, can you see his sovereign provision even in those times?

7. Being deaf is obviously a major concern…especially in ancient times. Many times we have smaller issues that we maybe subconsciously don’t think are a big enough deal to take to God in prayer? Using scripture, how would you refute that kind of thinking and know you should take any and all of your concerns to the Lord?

8. How would you explain to someone that the phrase ‘Christianity is not a religion, it is a relationship.’ is both true and untrue?
