Mark 8:1-10

November 12, 2023 Speaker: Eric Baker Series: Who Is This? A Portrait of Jesus Through the Gospel of Mark

Passage: Mark 8:1–10

Missional Community Questions:

1. Reread Mark 8:1-10. If possible, listen to the sermon(s) again.

2. Looking back over this sermon and this sermon series, how has God convicted your heart, stirred your affections for Jesus, drawn you closer to Him? How has the Word challenged, confused, or made you ask questions?

3. WEEKLY QUESTION: Who Is This? In what ways were your views of Jesus challenged, changed, or reinforced by this weeks sermon and text? In what ways have your thoughts about Jesus changed as you have matured in your faith?

4. One major difference between this mass feeding and the last one was pointed out that Jesus initiated this one. The Jews were entitled and expected the blessing. The Gentiles were the opposite and didn’t think themselves worthy. We are all prone to one side or the other of this coin. Which are you and why? How has Jesus humbled you in either case to better know him and his provision in salvation?

5. In what other ways do you see or have you seen Jesus acting in completely unexpected ways?

6. Re-read Mark 6:30-44 and Mark 8:1-10. What other major differences do you see in them and what do they reveal about Jesus?

7. How does seeing this story connected to the profession of faith in baptism on Sunday help you to see Jesus as Savior and us as missionaries to the nations?
