Mark 9:42-50

February 4, 2024 Speaker: Eric Baker Series: The King's Cross: Understanding the Life and Mission of Jesus

Passage: Mark 9:42–50

Missional Community Questions:

1. Reread Mark 9:30-50. If possible, listen to the sermon(s) again.

2. Looking back over this sermon and this sermon series, how has God convicted your heart, stirred your affections for Jesus, drawn you closer to Him? How has the Word challenged, confused, or made you ask questions?

3. Biblically explain why God MUST take sin as seriously as he does? Explain Biblically why the punishment of hell does, in fact, fit the crime(s)?

4. Are there specific areas in which you see your life look more like the world? If so, what are those areas and those triggers? What justifications do you find yourself using in order to ‘toe the line’ or even cross it at times? Why are those justifications sinful and often so dangerous?

5. Discipleship is radical. If it is not radical then it isn’t discipleship. WHat does this mean? How does this help inform us in how we are to be following after Jesus? What are some real and literal ways in which we must ‘cut off our hands and eyes’?
